Just like I had a series of smoothies last month, this time also I though I would put together a series with a theme - my favorite fruit, bananas!!! Bananas never tend to stay much at home, it gets over quite quickly, not because of the kids but because of the elders! HD, B and I have a competition as to who finishes off the most number of bananas a day. Hehe... Sometimes, I afford to get that lone banana to be blitzed. Banana is one versatile fruit - you can add it into any smoothie and it gives an instant body to the whole thing. It makes it so thick that you will be left full and not wanting a meal.
For some strawberry season is already over, like us whereas some places it is starting or is still on. Let me have this delicious smoothie as the first one in the 3-banana-smoothie series... Blitzed out of the last box of strawberries I could land my hands on this season, I had not other way more befitting than to say bye-bye to these beauties. I wish I would have cooked more using them, but InShaAllah, next time! What more, this is something that the kids would also love thanks to the chocolate added to this... Off to the way it is made...
Chocolate Banana Strawberry Smoothie
1 banana, chopped
6 strawberries, chopped
1/2 cup low fat milk
2 tbsp low fat yogurt
1 tbsp milled flax seed
1 tbsp honey
2 heaped tbsp drinking chocolate
Grind the banana and strawberry into a smooth paste. Add the remaining ingredients and blitz till incorporated. Pour into your glass and enjoy!
